Adding an Item in EdgeServPOS Back Office
This guide will assume you have been provided your EdgeServPOS Back Office web address has been provided to you by your technician/rep. If it hasn't, please contact our support line @ 775-984-5702.
We'll start in the main menu of the Back Office. From here, click on 'Menu'.
From here, click on 'Menu Item Editor'.
You'll find yourself with a list of all available items in your menu. To create a new item, click the top right button 'Add New'.
Here, you add all the information for your new item. Here is a quick explanation of all available fields.
Active - Signifies if an item is active in the database. If this is unchecked, your item wont show up in your menu.
Category - This is where you set what category the item is in. Click on the drop down and choose your desired category.
Name - The name of the item.
Short Name - If this differs from what was typed into 'Name', the Short Name will show up on your button on the POS.
Kitchen Name - This is what will show up on KDS terminals or Kitchen Printers.
Readable Name For Guest - This is what will show up on Guest Printers.
Description - If you'd like to type a detailed description for your item, this is where you put it.
Priority - If you'd like to have a certain item show up before other items on your Point of Sale, you can add a priority number. 1 will show up before 2. 0 Will show up before 1.
Scrolling down provides more important information.
Ask Price - If checked, Edgeserv will ask for the items price.
Ask Name - If checked, Edgeserv will ask for the items name.
Tax Inclusive - If checked, Tax will be included in the items price instead of a separate charge.
Assign Taxes - Check which taxes youd like this item to have.
Combo Menu Item - When checked, this item will turn into a Combo Item. A guide on configuring Combo Items will be written at a later date.
Can Be Sold Itself - Checking this box makes sure the item can be sold itself.
Color - Allows you to tie a color to the item. You can copy and paste a hex code from another item to ensure all colors are the same.
Priority for Online Ordering - Priority for Online Ordering. Uses the same number system previously stated.
Fast Screen Enabled - Allows this item to appear on the Fast Screen. A more in-depth guide on the Fast Screen will be written at a later date.
Assign Adjustments - Allows you to tie this item to specific adjustments. A guide on creating adjustments will be written at a later date.
All other variables that arent mentioned will have guides written about them at a later date.
Scrolling down more allows you to configure your Modifiers, Assigned Printers, and the items Price.
To add a Modifier Group, click 'Add Group'. A list will appear in front of you with all available Modifier Groups.
If you know what Modifier Group you'd like to add, click on it and then press 'Add'. You can see what Modifiers are in what Groups in the 'Modifier Group Editor' Tab. A more detailed Modifier guide will be written at a later date.
Adding your item to a Printer will be written at a later date. (Note, I don't have a database fully setup enough to get video of adding a printer. When I do this guide will be expanded.)
Lastly, we find ourselves at configuring the price! Most databases will have three places you can input your price. 'Alcohol', 'Food', and 'Bevs'. Put your price in accordingly, and check the box next to your price to make sure it appears on your Ipad.
Make sure you click save, after editing your item. For it to appear, refresh your app on your IPad.
